"Blessing in Disguise"
written by Jade Karen C. Cariaga
Scene 1: Mr. Ezekiel is angrily talking to his son, Jared inside his son's room.
Mr. Ezekiel: I have been telling you long ago, Jared. STAY AWAY FROM MR. FUNTALES' SON! (He said on Jared's face with emphasis).
Jared: But Dad, It's unfair! He's my best friend! Why are you telling me to stay away from the person who's always there to make me smile? From a special person who makes me laugh all the time? Why Dad? (he said in questioning tone looking straight into his father's eyes)
Mr. Ezekiel: You don't know the truth, son. (And now, he's telling this in calm tone, tapping his son's head)
Jared: The truth? What's the truth? (He asked interestingly)
Mr. Ezekiel: You're too young to know. But it's for you yo find out. (He said while leaving the son's room)
Scene 2: Jared was left in the room alone.
Jared: The truth? What's the truth? (He asked again, but now, he's talking to himself already)
(Then he dialed Maxwell's number, his best friend)
Maxwell: Hello Jared! (In a happy tone)
Jared: Hello Maxwell! (He greeted happily and not minding what his father have told to him earlier)
Maxwell: It's already midnight, Why?
Jared: I had a conversation with my Dad earlier and I couldn't understand why he's telling me to do something I don't want to. I asked him why then he answered, "You don't know the truth, son" (Imitating the way how his father uttered those lines)
Maxwell: The truth? Why? Is there something wrong between you two?
Jared: Honestly, yes. But I really want to know the truth he was saying earlier for me to understand why on Earth is telling to do something.
Maxwell: I hope you're okay Jared. I don't know what's between you and your father. I hope I can help you.
Jared: Yeah, thanks. I really want to know what the truth is.
Maxwell: What's the truth or who's the truth?
Jared: What do you mean?
Maxwell: I don't know what truth your father was pertaining to. But I know the one and only truth.
Jared: 'Who'?
Maxwell: Yeah, and it's Jesus. You can only find the truth in Him.
Jared: How? Who's Jesus?
Maxwell: John, chapter 14, verse 6.
Jared: You're confusing me, Maxwell!
Maxwell: I am not. I'm just helping you. Bye, Sleep well and if you want it to be clearer, you better ask the Google. Goodnight Jared.
(Then Maxwell ended the call)
Jared: It's ambiguous. (He knotted his forehead)
'I am not. I'm just helping you. Bye, Sleep well and if you want it to be clearer, you better ask the Google. Goodnight Jared'
'I am not. I'm just helping you. Bye, Sleep well and if you want it to be clearer, you better ask the Google. Goodnight Jared'
'I am not. I'm just helping you. Bye, Sleep well and if you want it to be clearer, you better ask the Google. Goodnight Jared'
(Those lines continuously echoed in his head then he realized browsing the internet.)
Scene 3: Jared grabbed his phone to search on the browser what his friend had told to him.
Jared: John, chapter 14,verse 16...enter. (He typed those words on a browser)
Jared: John 14, colon, 6... 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me' (He read what's on his phone)...'I'? Who was talking on that line? (He asked himself which cased him to furtherly search)
(Jared searched every word he don't understand on his browser until finally he got the answer)
Jared: It's Jesus. But who's Jesus?
Many questions have raised on every information he found.
Scene 4: Jared went out to go on a convenient store nearby to buy some snacks.
He decided to stay there for awhile after buying a snack. He sat down on a seat outside the store.
Jared: (Busy thinking for something)
Scene 5: A pastor named, David noticed Jared having a deep wondering.
Pastor David: You okay?
Jared: Ah, yeah. (He went back on his original state)
Pastor David: You must be thinking for something deep. By the way, I'm pastor David. (Offering a handshake)
Jared: I'm Jared. And yeah, I was thinking for something.
Pastor David: May I know what was it, if you don't mind?
Jared: ???
Pastor David: Okay, I understand you. It may be a personal matter. But it would be better if you'll share it to someone who's willing to hear you.
Jared:???
Pastor David: Look, I'm a pastor. And it's also my job to help my brothers and sisters to bear their burdens and help them.
Jared: But I'm not your brother nor your sister.
Pastor David: You are
Jared: What?
Pastor David: An innocent kid. Here, (He gave a calling card) You can talk to me whenever you want. And I can help you find the truth. (Then he was supposed to go away when...)
Jared: Wait...(He stopped Pastor David from going away) How did you know that I was searching for the truth?
Pastor David: (He smiled then...) I saw it in your eyes.
Jared: I do not know you but is it okay if I'll share what I was thinking earlier?
Pastor David: As what I've told you, It's my duty.
Jared told everything to Pastor David about his last conversation with his dad.
Pastor David: You know, son. We may not know about what your father really meant about the 'truth' he was saying. But I can help you find what the real truth is.
Jared: You sure?
Pastor David: Yeah, it would be better if you'll visit our church there some other time. (He said while pointing at the church on their right) Through going in that sacred building, you would be able to find what you are looking for.
Jared: Thank you.
Scene 6: It was Sunday morning and Jared decided to follow what Pastor David have told to him. He went to a church near their house.
Jared: Will I able to find the answers here? (He said as he enters the room).
Several months passed and he did the same. Going to church every Sunday is been part of his routine. Until he realized one great revelation...
Jared: John, chapter 14, verse 6..."I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me"... Now I know what the real truth is. It may not be the one whose my father was pertaining to. But what matters now us that...Jesus Christ, the begotten Son of God who saved me from the sin and death is the truth and I can find everything on Him.
Then he ended up smiling.
